Program Description
The Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB) provides research support and opportunities for students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty interested in the use of computational approaches in solving biological problems. We do not offer a degree program in Computational Biology. Instead, doctoral students work with participating faculty, who are drawn from departments throughout the University of Texas.
The research interests of the participating faculty touch upon a wide range of biological problems, and use various types of computational techniques. Some of the research areas that include several of the participating faculty include:
Nucleic acid structure and function
Molecular evolution
Computational Phylogenetics
Proteomics
Drug Design
Regulatory and Developmental Pathway Inference
Students interested in research opportunities in computational biology should contact the appropriate faculty members directly.
The CCBB also sponsors frequent seminars of interest to the computational biology community. Students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty interested in being announced on an announcement mailing list should please send email to Laurie Alvarez.
